Sinai University Faculty of Engineering Hosts Workshop on Preparing Economic Feasibility Studies in Cooperation with the National Council for Women and the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Gehan Fekry, President of Sinai University, and Prof. Dr. Abdelhamid Abdo, Vice President of Sinai University for Education and Student Affairs at Arish Branch, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Bassiouni, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Prof. Dr. Ashraf Amin, Vice Dean of the Faculty, the Faculty of Engineering at Sinai University hosted, on Monday, August 10, 2026, a specialized workshop entitled “How to Prepare Economic Feasibility Studies for Participants in the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects.” The workshop was organized in cooperation with the National Council for Women and the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, as part of the University’s commitment to supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, empowering young people, and encouraging them to develop innovative projects that contribute to achieving sustainable development goals and protecting the environment. The workshop was attended by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Bassiouni, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, a number of faculty members, approximately 35 students from the Faculty, as well as a number of project owners.
At the beginning of the workshop, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Bassiouni emphasized the importance of strengthening communication and cooperation between university students and governmental and community institutions, in a way that contributes to transforming students’ ideas and innovations into viable projects and developing practical solutions that serve the community and protect the environment. Eng. Amal El-Mansour El-Khalili, General Coordinator of the Initiative in North Sinai Governorate, provided a comprehensive explanation of the principles of preparing financial and economic feasibility studies, in addition to reviewing the requirements and criteria of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, helping participants develop their project ideas in accordance with the initiative’s requirements. Prof. Ehsan Dawoud Ghali, Rapporteur of the North Sinai Branch of the National Council for Women, also highlighted the requirements for projects to meet the green and smart components, with particular emphasis on the “Women and Climate Change” category and the importance of qualifying women-led projects to compete within the initiative.
Dr. Omnia Saleh Zakri also presented a study on the participation of the Faculty of Engineering at Sinai University in the initiative, followed by a presentation showcasing a number of promising projects and innovative ideas proposed by the Faculty’s students. These projects demonstrated the students’ ability to apply their engineering knowledge to develop innovative solutions aligned with the requirements of sustainable development and the transition toward a green economy. The workshop reflects Sinai University’s ongoing efforts to empower young people, support their innovative ideas, and encourage entrepreneurship, in line with the Egyptian state’s vision of supporting smart green projects and addressing the challenges posed by climate change. The University also continues to provide training programs and activities that enhance students’ skills, prepare them for effective participation in national initiatives, and transform innovative student ideas into projects with sustainable economic, environmental, and societal impact.
