Visit of the European Union Ambassador to Sinai University

Under the generous patronage and in the presence of Prof. Dr. Gehan Fekry, President of Sinai University, and Prof. Dr. Abdelhamid Abdo, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Sinai University’s Arish branch hosted the Ambassador of the European Union to Egypt, Angelina Eichhorst, on Monday, May 18, 2026, in an official visit aimed at strengthening academic and scientific cooperation and supporting youth opportunities in the fields of education and innovation.

During the visit, the Ambassador met with the university leadership, faculty members, and students, where discussions focused on the importance of education, scientific research, and international cooperation in preparing a generation capable of keeping pace with global developments and contributing to sustainable development.

The visit included an extensive tour of the university’s facilities and various faculties, including the technical departments and specialized laboratories of the Faculties of Engineering, Information Technology, and Pharmacy. The tour highlighted the university’s advanced scientific and technological capabilities that support the educational and research process while promoting innovation and academic excellence.

The tour also included a visit to the educational medicinal plants farm affiliated with the Faculty of Pharmacy, which represents a practical model linking scientific research with Sinai’s medicinal and botanical heritage. In addition, the Ambassador visited the Faculty of Dentistry and its outpatient clinics dedicated to community service, reflecting the university’s role in providing integrated healthcare and training services.

The visit concluded with an open meeting with students at the Board of Trustees Hall in the Faculty of Dentistry, where discussions addressed prospects for cooperation in scientific research and academic exchange programs. The session also featured an interactive dialogue between the Ambassador and the students on skills development, capacity building, and opportunities for cooperation between Egypt and the European Union.

At the conclusion of the visit, the Ambassador was presented with Sinai University’s commemorative shield in appreciation of her visit and her continued support for cooperation in the fields of education, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship, which remain among the European Union’s key priorities in empowering youth.
