Participation of 3 Teams from the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science – Sinai University – Kantara, in the ECPC Competition at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Gehan Fekry, President of Sinai University, and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Fouad, Dean of the Faculty, Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science – Sinai University – Kantara, participated with three talented teams in the ECPC competition qualifiers held at the headquarters of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport – Abu Qir – Alexandria during the period from 25-27/7/2024.

The Egyptian Collegiate Programming Contest (ECPC) is a prestigious event that brings together a group of the brightest minds in computer science and engineering from universities across Egypt. The competition motivates students to solve complex algorithmic problems under time constraints, which enhances teamwork, problem-solving skills and a passion for programming. The competition is part of the larger regional competition, the African and Arab Collegiate Programming Contest (ACPC), which in turn leads to the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), the oldest, largest and most prestigious programming competition in the world.

119  Faculties from various Egyptian universities participated in the competition, including 2430 teams in addition to 516 junior teams.

Sinai University’s three teams participating in the competition were:

  • Solving Watermelon team: consisting of Mennatallah Ghanem, Peter Emil, and Mostafa Mahmoud Amin
  • HBD Masters team, consisting of Ruqayya Osama, Moaz Faisal, and Moaz Medhat
  • Bytes team, consisting of students Hassan Mohamed, Mazen Medhat, and Mohamed Ahmed Salim.

The three teams demonstrated strong teamwork skills, problem-solving skills, and various technical skills, and made great progress during the qualifiers. In addition, solving Watermelon team qualified for the finals of the competition, where they solved three problems in the qualifiers.
